Most of the women usually dream of a long flowing train or a slender sheath style dress to be worn as the wedding dress. But more importance should be given towards having a gown which can flatter itself to the basic shape of the body. Before you start the shopping process, you might try to look at hundreds of gown pictures which are available in the bridal magazines. By using a long and slender dress, you will be able to give a taller look to your personality. The full ballroom style gowns can be used for giving a more balanced look if the figure is tall. A body dress which matches the height must be chosen irrespective of the body shape. The very tall people usually opt for the gowns which have longer train. They thereby give a more proportionate look to the tall personality. For those who are short, a short hemline in the front having a shorter train in the back is more suitable and you will also not feel being under-powered by your dress.

I know you are probably wondering “What in the world does this mean??” Well, let me explain something about what we are all guilty of… wanting our way right away! We want immediate attention to whatever is happening in “OUR WORLD” IMMEDIATELY!

Example #1~ Sally’s child is sick. Sally wants the first available appointment with the doctor. Sally doesn’t want a long wait at the doctor’s office. Sally would prefer that doctor has the medication (highly unlikely, I know!) rather than having to go to the drug store… Sally then takes out her frustration on the receptionist at the doctor’s office, speaks harsh to the unsuspected clerk at the drug store, and fusses at her sick child for complaining ~all because things didn’t go Sally’s way!

Example #2~ Look back to you high school years. How many times did you complain about a teacher “having a bad day!” and “why is she/he taking it out on us?”

S-T-O-P (hopefully at this point you are thinking about when the last time it was that you got snappy with someone.)

Unfortunately, we live in a world where we think the world (and everyone in it) revolves around ourselves. AND Heaven forbid, if we have a problem!

Not long ago, I went into a jewelry store. There were 2 clerks, one assisting me, and the other, another customer. All four of us were in deep conversation when a woman came into the shop and walked to the counter. She was greeted by the clerks and they mentioned that they would be with her momentarily. She waited for approximately 60 seconds before loudly commenting “Uh, I don’t have time to wait. All I need to do is pick up a watch. I have things to do!” (WELL, don’t we all!)

I was very impressed with how the clerks reacted. After making eye contact with one another and all mentally chatting “are you for real??,” they politely looked to the woman and said ” Yes, ma’am, but you must wait your turn!”

Is it me, or have we lost all common courtesy? Wait your turn- a first lesson we were taught as a child.

Here are the problems I see:

People are not happy! They may say they are happy, but they are missing something in their lives. There is a void that people try to fill with busy schedules, boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wives, money, cars, shoes….The list could go on and on. My personal opinion is that, that void can only be filled by a personal relationship with Jesus Christ! It works for me, no matter the stresses (and there are many being wife, Mommy, running a business, etc.) My life is good and it takes quite a bit to “rock my boat!”
People are controlling. We like to be in control. That is OK to a point. Think about how you live by your calendar, your schedule. What would happen to your life if you didn’t have the Droid/wedding planner to keep up with your life? Stop trying to control everything. You can not control when the bank is supposed to call you back regarding your loan. Give the loan officer an opportunity to actually work on your paperwork rather than speaking with you multiple times a day. What? The doctor hasn’t returned YOUR call before YOU left for lunch??

* Take a moment to think, that just like you, people are helping~returning phone calls, working with other customers, caring for other sick people, putting through others loan applications, assisting other brides, caring for other children. See the pattern here?

Sometimes it truly is about OTHERS! Take time to be kind. We are so busy that sometimes we can go a full day without smiling, greeting, hugging someone else. How sad!! Today, when it seems as though the world is turning upside with the economy, terrorism, violence. Maybe we should work hard at making this world a nicer place- be kind!

Personalized homemade honey jars!-

Buying the honey in bulk will save you first hand (you can find online stores that carry 5lbs of honey for just over $10.) Depending on how many guests you have will determine your final price. More simplified intimate weddings will benefit from this favor.

Look for containers online in bulk as well, and with case prices there is usually a discount. Containerandpackaging.com has many different shapes and sizes for the bottles, starting at $10 for 80 containers. They also have a honey section! Also, check the closeout sections on packaging websites for deals on different sized bottles. Limiting the number of favors can help reduce cost.  Do this by sending one favor per family. Label with handwritten ribbon tied around the jar (ex. “The Anderson Family”). Have them at the table so families and couples know to take one.

Chalkboard place settings-

An interesting way to let your guest know what the seating arrangement is! Paint pieces of wood with chalkboard paint. Write the guest names on them in front of their seats and write a personal note like “Take me home with you to remember all your honey-do’s!” Place small packages of chalk or tie two pieces to each board. (Drill a hole in the top corner and tie the chalk with ribbon through it.)
